Erik Halkjaer is a swedish freelance journalist based in Stockholm, Sweden. He works for various written swedish media, like the newspapers Göteborgs-Posten and Sydsvenskan, the weekly papers Fokus and Arbetaren and the magazines Amnesty Press, Omvärlden , Pax and Världshorisont. He got 15 years of experience as a journalist. The latest ten years he has been working on is own as freelance, covering international news, mainly human rights, development aid politics in poor countries and social issues in Africa, Asia, and most of all in Latinamerica.
Between 2000 and 2002 he worked for the swedish development aid NGO Latinamerikagrupperna in El Salvador. He has also worked as a journalist for Göteborgs-Posten, the editorial company Tidningsmakarna AB and he has been the editor of the magazines Latinamerika and the Swedish Red Cross magazine Henry, and web editor at www.latinamerika.nu and www.redcross.se, and also press officer and web editor for the swedish NGO Africa Groups of Sweden.
