Halkjaer Media is a consultant company with focus on journalism and communication. Behind the company is Erik Halkjaer. I am a swedish freelance journalist based in Stockholm, Sweden. Over the years I have worked for various written Swedish media, like the newspapers Dagens NyheterGöteborgs-Posten, Svenska Dagbladet and Sydsvenskan, the weekly papers Fokus and Arbetaren and the magazines Amnesty Press, Omvärlden, Pax and Världshorisont.

Since September 2021 I’m the editor in chief and publisher for the magazine Sveriges Natur and since Mars 2019 the president of Reporters Without Borders Sweden. I’ve been on the board since 2017.

In 2017-2019 Halkjaer Media, together with Serpentin Media, produced the magazine Afghanistan-nytt for the non governmental organization Swedish Committee for Afghanistan.

I worked 2016-2018 as a fixed freelance journalist for Dagens Nyheter Global Utveckling.

During the years 2020-2021 and 2015-2016 I was the editor in chief and publisher for the digital magazine Omvärlden. I got 25 years of experience as a journalist.

For more than 20 years I have been working on my own, as freelance, covering international news, mainly human rights, sustainable development, development aid politics in poor countries and social issues in Africa, Asia, and most of all in Latin America.

Between 2000 and 2002 I worked for the Swedish development aid NGO Latinamerikagrupperna in El Salvador. I have also worked as a journalist for Göteborgs-Posten, the editorial company Tidningsmakarna AB and have been the editor of the magazines Latinamerika and the Swedish Red Cross magazine Henry, and web editor at www.latinamerika.nu and www.redcross.se, and also press officer and web editor for the swedish NGO Africa Groups of Sweden. Between August of 2012 and June of 2013 I worked as editor at the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan, responsable for the magazine Afghanistan-Nytt and the web page. During the period November 2013 and February 2015 I was one of two press officer at the Swedish Red Cross.
